A Limca record in Phagwara’s kitty

Green Boy Gaurav Bhalla
May 20th, 2012 was the special day for all Phagwaraites. The city’s well-known lad and my good friend Green boy Gaurav Bhalla created a history by making a Limca Book of Records for his successful attempt of ‘Longest Chain of Cyclists’. It was the proud moment as I was also a part of it.

We successfully managed to break the earlier records and disseminated the significant message of ‘Go-Green’.Last year, when the event happened, I covered him for TOI-Jalandhar. And I can proudly say that it was one of the good stories of mine. Here is a story that shared space in the paper.

TOI-Jalandhar has covered Green Boy Gaurav Bhalla from Phagwara a couple of times for his true dedication and selfless love towards bringing a change in the environment. And finally he has received a Limca Book of Record certificate (his dream) after making a successful Go-Green squad of ‘Longest Chain of Cyclists’ an attempt to form a new record where more than 6000 cyclists participated from city and around on May 20, 2012.

On this huge achievement Green Boy Gaurav expresses, “It feels so proud when your hard work rewards you back. It is my dream come true but a lot is yet to be achieved. I always believed in saving our environment and wanted the hike in petrol prices so that people start adopting cycling for their means of transport. With this achievement I am more encouraged and will further continue this green spirit and make society aware of this noble cause.”

His event would be highlighted in the Limca Book of Record 2013 which would be released in January next year.

For future Gaurav is planning a lot more green things. He tells, “Firstly I will make entry into Guinness World Record and side by side will initiate more green and eco-friendly projects.”
