Greek God of the fashion industry: Amit Ranjan

When he walks the ramp, all eyes get glued on him. Such is a pleasing personality of my friend Amit Ranjan, a known face of modeling industry. I was truly impressed by his long locks when I saw him for the very first time during a fashion show in Jalandhar. Slowly and steadily, we started interacting with each other. His dynamic personality with perfect ‘V’ shape body, he has walked the ramp for almost all the renowned designers of industry. After I covered him for my newspaper years ago, I got a chance to meet him in Mumbai later. We exchanged thoughts about industry and life over a dinner at his apartment. I found him quite humble and soft-spoken and this is the reason we still share a good bond. And obviously, I feel honor to cover a well-known face for my paper and now on my blog, irrespective of the fact that he is my dear friend.

 Your background?

I come from family where lot of importance is given to education, it’s a family full of professionals, right from bankers, educationist, government officers, we have it all .So breaking away from this and having a career in modeling was a tall order. I have completed my graduation from Delhi University and then took up modeling.

 Your launch pad?

I stepped into the wide world of fashion industry by joining the Glad rags mega model man hunt contest 2006 and never looked back.

 It is often said that a model should possess a good personality. According to you, what are the attributes required for a good personality?

It’s true that a model should posses a good personality , the main attributes would be good looks,  good body , good height, though these are the basic requirements , what makes u stand out is the right attitude and how u carry yourself.

Favourite attire?

Favourite clothing would be rugged, washed jeans , with cargo shirts combined with boots and little accessories like wrist bands and I also love wearing hats .

 What are the various types of modeling as a career option?

Three options in modeling are, fashion model (runway model), print model and electronic media model (TVC’s).

Does casting couch really exist in fashion industry? Have you ever experienced it?

It does for sure but fortunately I never experienced it.

What do you like about Punjab?
I love the rich cultural heritage of Punjab ,  the historical important places it has , like Jallian walla Bagh , Golden temple , Wagha border and love the greenery of Punjab . Besides that i am very inspired by the courage and bravery the people of Punjab show, in protecting our country ,  Shaheed Bhagat Singh  has been an inspiration to many young stars like us . Last but not the least i love Punjabi food.

Your interests

My interests are traveling, swimming, watching movies and listening to music.

Any causes you stand for?

CSDS (Center for studying developing society) is a society with a good cause, where people are finding different ways to educate underprivileged children , I strongly believe in this cause as children are our future and I do my bit towards the same.

You have worked with big names like Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra etc, Who you liked the most working with and why?

It has always been a pleasure to work with eminent personalities. If u asks me to pick one it would be difficult, as they are all hugely talented people and i have always learned something new, each time from each one.

Your message for the youth

Never give up on your dreams, dreams do not become reality easily but keep giving your best and one day you will be successful in life. In one line work hard and believe in yourself. Good luck and keep rocking!!!
